Artist Spotlight: Zéh Palito

Header Image: "Monday Morning in Bamako". Acrylic on canvas. 70 x 80 cm.

There is no canvas too big or too small for artist Zéh Palito. Based in Brazil, Palito’s work is bright, bold, and most importantly, it tells a story. His paintings take inspiration from Brazilian and African culture, reflecting his background. With his murals, Palito incorporates bright, geometric splashes of colors that draw the eyes. His murals are often site-specific, incorporating the architecture of the wall or surrounding landscape into his creations. With his paintings, the grandiose of his works are gone, instead replaced with a quiet intimacy of looking into the eyes of those he portrays in his paintings.

"The Dreamer". Acrylic on canvas. 70 x 80 cm.

Whatever his canvas may be, the message is often the same. Palito puts Black and Indigenous people at the center of his works. Alongside them, he blends nature with his subjects, showcasing them in harmony and as a part of the natural landscape. In his paintings, Palito envisions a future where humankind can seamlessly merge and co-exist with nature.
